I wish I'd been more self-disciplined these last few days, as I have a lot to post . My year-end countdown, by Christmas holidays with friends and families, my New Year's frivolity, the Johnson anniversary, the Spurs, and so on. It has been a busy season, and it's hard to get it all into words.
Many trips to Houston for wonderful events; Matt and Summer's wedding, B's first birthday, Liz turning two.... Christmas Eve with the family and Christmas Day. Delicious times with the LaMore clan - thankfulness for Mom's continued improvement - a game with nephews I rarely get to interact with.
So, as 2011 begins, suffice it to say that I am a contented, happy woman. Andy shows me more and more how truly much he loves me (maybe he always has and I just didn't see it!), and my friendships grow dearer to me with each passing day. My daughters and sweet son give me hope for a great future for them all.
To quote a line from the movie "Hope Floats," my cup runneth over. May I never forget how God has blessed by life with His goodness.
So, to you and yours, a Happy, Healthy, and Fun 2011.
Now, if those Spurs will just bring home Banner 5!!!

Yes, it's a Spurs post....
Evidently, my daughters are not fans of my posts concerning my Spurs, but this one is a must!!
For years, the Spurs have been looked down on by those lowly LA Lakers, but last night, they were finally given the respect they deserved! The guys came out gunning, and even thought Timmy and my man, Manu, did little point-wise, the Spurs put them in their place. This was our first big test of the season, some said, and was a measuring stick of how the team really was doing. Well, it was a pleasure to watch them shoot at will and deny the purple and black. I guess our new guys just saw it as another team, and were not intimidated by Koby; did you SEE George put his finger in Koby's face!?!?
So, I'm a happy Spurs fan today; hoping for many more games like that one to come!! :)

An Intervention Report
A couple of weeks ago, when the girls were home, they sat me down to have an intervention. I want you to know, I did really good since then, but now I'm falling off the wagon -
It appears too many of my blogs have focused on my Spurs. Not everyone, apparently, likes reading about the boys over and over - so the girls felt perhaps I needed to lighten up on the Silver and Black. Being the obedient woman I am, I took what they had to heart.
Until this morning, when Ihave to post at least one more basketball blog:
To LeBron - HA HA HA - out you go!! Another year with no ring - so sad.
So, till next year: Go, Spurs, Go!! :)

Spurs win, Spurs win!!!!
All through the season, I doubted - yes, doubted! my Spurs. They just weren't happening, and I was not too sure about even making the playoffs.
Last night proved me wrong. My guys in silver and black showed up big time and made Dirk look human. Now, the series comes back to SA.
I feel SO much better !!

And so it begins!
One of my favorite times of the year is NBA Playoffs; my SPURS group gathers for each game and we cheer and yell at refs as one. It was scary for a while, but the guys pulled it out in the last 2 weeks, and we met again last night for the first game of this series.
Our opponent; The Dallas Mavericks. Now, I think my sweet son-in-law is perfect, but his allegience is off on this one. We laugh about it, but really - the Mavs?!?
Well, the Mavs have game one, but it's a best-of-seven series. My guys will make it exciting, and we hopefully will move on to the next round.
Go, Spurs, Go!!

HaHaHa - I just heard on the radio that the State of the Union won't be broadcast on WOAI tonight, because the Spurs are playing!! You can hear it on the computer if you like - Priorities!!!

20 points, baby!!!
SPURS win big over the Lakers!!! By 20, count 'em, 20 points!!
I know, Kobe and Pau were out injured, I know - it's one of those asterik games to them, but to me - It's a BIG win for our guys!! I was on the edge of my seat the 3rd and 4th periods.
It was SWEET!!

Now, for the really important topic
Now that TAKS is over for another year, I can move on to the more important topic that needs discussion: the Spurs.
My boys lost in 5 to those pesky Mavs; the only good thing was the Cuban (their owner) kept his mouth shut for once about the lovely city of San Antonio. But his team out shot, out blocked, out ran, and out everything the silver and black, and they now get to move on. I guess, since no one is going to beat the Lakers this year, it's better to go ahead and let Timmy rest his knees and Tony quit scoring 43+ points in losing battles.
The really sad thing is, what will we do now with our evenings? May has always been filled with fellowship focusing on watching the playoffs, and now we have none to watch. It'll help with the eating late at night, but it'll sure be quiet....
So, until next season, "bye, Spurs, bye."

Now THAT's my Spurs!!
Last night, about 15 of us gathered at the Norwood's home for the game. Katherine is a great hostess, and we had delicious brownies, tea, nachos, and ice cream with all the toppings (even a new, Dr. Pepper sauce!) The game was on in two rooms, so people were drifting between the tvs and food, visiting and cheering our boys on. After the big lead we let get away on Sat., we were cautious about getting too excited, but the guys put it to them, and we all left happy. It was a late night, so I'm drowsy, but my students are testing and I won't have them for a bit.
I do love my job! :)

Spurs win, Spurs win!!
It was a long time coming, but it's here!!
Poor Dana - called last night to tell me about her day, and there we were, late in the 4th quarter of the Spurs last regular season game. I half-listened to her, and told her about my day, one eye on the tube at all times. Catching my breath as the lead went back and forth, with Chris Paul and David West daring to push my boys down into 8th seed.
Finally, I just had to be honest. "Dana. I hate to cut this short, but there's only a few minutes left, and I REALLY need to see the end of this game. Is there something else you wanted to talk to me about?" Now, I really feel like a bad mom....
We say our "I love you's" and I hang up. The game continues until the last shot of the game, with the Spurs down by 3. Guess who - Michael Finley - shoots a beauty of a basket to send us into overtime. The boys take that as a sign of good things to some, and we win big-time!!
Now, thanks to the dreaded Mavericks win over Houston, we actually play the Mavs this weekend. Home court advantage is ours, and Mark Cuban will come down to make an idiot of himself again, and we will play our hearts out. It's been a long season, and they've looked awful at some points, but here we are again, ready to go. How far is the mystery.

One of the Spring's most highly anticipated events in my social circle is the NBA playoffs. We gather in each others' homes, finger-foods in hand, and enthusiasticallly cheer on our SPURS. We've been there through lop-sided victories, squeakers, and disappointing losses. We've been through 4 trophy-winning championships. It becomes our world for a few weeks....
It's time to begin, and the furvor was building. One man told me he built his new home with the gatherings in mind - a nice, open living area with a big-screen hanging above the fireplace. So excited....
Well. The SPURS made it in again, and our 1st round team is yet to be decided, but we are assured at least one series. Trouble is, it may (probably will be!) the only one....
Manu is out. I got the news yesterday that he is injured and will not play again this season. It was the second time that day I'd gotten disturbing news, and I cannot shake the funk I am in as I write this. No Manu.
No Manu.

Dentists, Aggies, Spurs and showers, oh my!!
Getting up this morning was hard!! It was a busy, hectic weekend, and I usually protect my Sunday afternoons for rest!! After a quiet lunch, Andrew and I usually settle in to nap and read the paper; but there was little time for that this past weekend...
Friday, I sucked it up and went to the dentist. The good news is, I did it - the bad news is, I have to do it again and again and AGAIN until I repair all the neglect of my teeth. It told him I was mad at him because he did not put my buddy - nitrous oxide- in his new office!! He assures me the little pills he gave me will be better, but I'll see. The next trial is set for Friday - a wisdom tooth. The best part of the day was dinner and games at the Huttons....
Saturday was okay. Not a lot of drama. But Sunday made up for it.
The Aggies for Christ were in town, so we had a big luncheon for them, combined with January birthdays. A good crowd in attendance, and delicious food. Sunday afternoon, I made brownies for the shower and watched my Spurs lose big time to the Lakers - of all people - on network tv. My boys looked bad!! Then, we had worship and the shower. It was nicely attended as well - we were afraid of having two fellowships in one day, but it was great! They had some family come in, and I think they were pleased with how it all turned out. Katherine made a yummy cake, and we had some to bring home; I'll enjoy it tonight during "24".
Now, I start another week of little ones. They crack me up and make the day go by fast!!
As I wrote letters on Justin's back this morning, he giggled and wiggled because he's so ticklish!! What a job I have!

An early Christmas!!
Manu is back!!! He played for the first time this season last night, and it was a glorious sight to behold!! The man looked GOOD - no limping, falling or grimacing in pain; just steals, feats of acrobatic wonder and that cute little pump he does with his arm when he makes a play! I have to admit a little crush here- he's just so cute, even with his bald spot! So, now the Spurs can resume their season full blast when Tony returns and the new guys hit their stride.
Can we dare to hope for Ring # 5?!?
Go, Spurs, Go!!

Spurs post #1
Yippee!! The long, 3 month drought of Spurs-mania is over!! The boys begin training camp today, and soon my ears will be ringing with news of Manu's acl, Tony's summer in France and Tim's aged abilities. New guys to learn and "old" guys to miss - how can we play without Robert and Brent ?!?! What will happen with the HEB commercials?!
Even though Manu will be out until after Christmas, we'll still see him on the side-lines, cheering on his team. I'm sure he'll be back better than ever, and being an odd-numbered year, it's time for another Championship!!
Next to Liz being born, this is the highlight of my Fall!!!
Go, Spurs, Go!!!

Eulogy for Manu
Spurs lose to Lakers; Manu just wasn't a factor at all; nor Tony for that matter. At least it wasn't a blow-out; just not to be. I think the every-other year thing is in their heads, and we have to fix that.
If I hear Kobe one more time, though, I may go Postal.
Now what do I post about ?!?
Closing up the year today with a lot of nothing to do. One good thing about teaching what I do is, I get a couple of days the homeroom teachers don't get, so I get ahead of the game. Now, it's wait to sign out and load the car.

Spurs vs school ending...
I know that I'm vascillating between the two subjects listed above, but other than my upcoming venture into grandmother-hood, nothing else right now occupies my mind. The way the Spurs are going, it should come to a crashing end soon; much to my sadness. I think they've believed all the hype about their age and not being able to repeat, and so it will lead to an early demise. So sad....
I'm looking forward to an easy summer with my dear Andrew and sweet daughters, and finishing some plans we are starting on the house, so I'm pumped. I just hope it doesn't go too fast!
Time for the fun to begin - have a good day!

Good to have them back!!
I'm not sure who those guys were in New Orleans, but they in no way resembled the team that took game 3 last night. Tim, Tony and Many were back in their element, and it was way beyond fun to watch! Gregg and Erin came in about half-way through the 3rd period and enjoyed watching the group cheer the boys on. Once we got through that one, we felt like the game was ours. Sunday night is not so dreaded now, and then we go back to N.O.
I just hope the Big Three make the team plane!!

WOW
Everyone is saying it. This series with Phoenix was tough enough to be the Finals; I truly had my doubts last night.
After a hard day of testing, I wasn't going to go; just send Andy to the Hendersons without me and go to bed. I was drained, and yet knew I'd really regret it if I didn't go and they won. So, I went, sat down, and mainly listened to the game. Didn't visit, didn't wander back and forth between tv and snacks. Just sat and hoped against hope the old boys had one more win in their bag of tricks.
They did. Why do I doubt - well, there was that game last Sunday!! Anyway, it wasn't pretty or even athletic in some parts, just hack-a- Shaq'n and floppin and whistle blowing. When it was all said and done, the Spurs were on top to move on. Shaq even kept his mouth shut and didn't say a word on his way out. He knew he'd been schooled.
Now it's on the the Hornets. Younger, hungry, naive about the playoffs and all they bring to the court. Can the boys do it? I know a group of about 20 who will be there every tip off, just to see. We have faith in our boys and Pop.

TAKS begins
It starts this morning; three days of testing what the state says the kids need to know....
Tonight is the Spurs next chance to eliminate the Suns, and I have to go to bed because of testing... I would be too tired if I stayed up for the whole game, so I'll leave it with Andrew and hope I wake up to good news.
If you see a teacher this week, please be nice. It's very stressful around school right now.s

And the lamp goes flying!!
Anyone who knows my husband would agree that he is a man of self-control. He always tempers his reactions to things by taking it in and then showing what he thinks in a calm, thought-out way.
Not Saturday. Not when Timmy hit the 3 pointer that lead to the Spurs first victory over the Suns in double over-time. When it did "nothing but net," Andy threw up his arms and knocked the floor lamp off kilter, almost hitting my dad's christening gown to the floor! He caught it just in time, and then we continued to celebrate his good aim in fun and frivoloty. Could we have enjoyed it any more - I don't think so.
Game two - Tomorrow!! Go, SPURS, GO !!
