Today is my husband's birthday. He is 55; for a few months a year older than I. Last night, we joined the Jr./Sr. High School class at church to "share our story." He let me go first, we shared about finding each other all those years ago, and how being with a Christian mate makes life and faith so much stronger. He talked about having God in his life - being his life.

So, today, on this anniversary of his birth all those years ago, I look back a little, to the fun and adversity we have faced, but mostly I look to the future. What does it hold for us in these next years? Will Pleasanton remain our home in our "retirement" - will retirement come in time to truly enjoy it? Will our home be filled with lots of little ones to pass on the stories to?

Whatever we face, as long as Andy is there, I'll be fine. He is my stability and my future.

Yes!!

Well, we bit the bullet and got our new computer, which meant it was time. We've joined the high-speed world of the internet!! Finally, we are eligible to get service through our Electric Cooperative, and while we won't be hooked up for a week or so, it just feels great to know that, at last, dial-up is in our past!! (Jackie always said she had time to put in laundry while it chugged and spun and finally loaded!!) Well, soon.

That means I will need a new email provider, because I don't want to type the long address. It's a hassle to let everyone know, but I think it will be well worth it. Any suggestions as to a provider; hotmail, yahoo, gmail., etc.? AOL has been good, but we can't get highspeed through them. Besides, they are too expensive.

So, for now, I'm not blogging at home. I'll try to keep you posted elsewhere. Have a marvelous weekend!!

After the Fact

When Andy and I picked out the lot on which our home sits today, there was nothing but dirt and a few weeds. I wanted it because it was directly behind our friends' home, and I'd have ready access to visiting with her. No other houses were on the street.

When it came time to "Landscape" we knew we wanted nice, tall trees that would have Fall color. We bought Red Oak, Chinese Pistache, Chinese Tallow, and Burr Oak. And waited.
And waited. Slowly they grew, and with each year, we had a little more color. Our goals were coming to be!

This year, both our front and back lawns are resplendent in reds, oranges, yellows, and earthy browns. No live oak leaves falls in my yard - lovely as they are - but nice, big , bright leaves that crown the trees like a halo and then fall to gather like a rug on the ground . It is just what I envisioned all those years ago.

Nice when things turn out the way you wanted them to.
